What is Active Learning

Active learning is an engaging approach where learners take an active role in their learning process, rather than passively absorbing information. Through my observation and learning, I have found that active learning impacts learners in profound ways. Firstly, it enhances retention by encouraging learners to interact with the material, which helps in better comprehension and memory recall. Secondly, it fosters critical thinking skills as learners are prompted to analyze, evaluate, and apply what they have learned in real-world scenarios. Additionally, active learning promotes collaboration and communication among learners, as they often work together to solve problems or discuss concepts. Lastly, it increases motivation and engagement by making the learning experience more enjoyable and relevant to learners’ interests and goals. These observations suggest that active learning not only improves academic performance but also cultivates essential skills for lifelong learning and success.
