The Benefits of Peer Observation:

The key benefit is Collaboration.

You’re opening up discussions, learning conversations. You have this opportunity of having an insight into

teacher’s world, their work, their ethos etc. Peer observation plays a great role when external people

come in from other schools. It takes it to a different level where you can actually be then using your peer

observation and doing what we call within a teaching school sense is school to school support.

One becomes very confident. It reinvigorated enthusiasm and passion to make a difference to your own

practice.

It also provides crossed subject opportunity.

• The possible pitfall of peer Observation is that one doesn’t understand the seriousness of it.

It is taken for granted at times as one doesn’t value the time of the other person but peer observation is

purely for your professional development and for reflective time and for two people to be involved in the process.
